Install it, run it, fix it.

Both extensions are sold through the SketchUp Extension Warehouse. Installing from there handles everything for you: sign in to your Trimble account inside SketchUp, open the extension's page, and choose Try or Purchase — Start Free Trial for the 30-day trial, or buy the perpetual licence.

To install an RBZ file by hand instead:

1. In SketchUp, open Window > Extension Manager.
2. Click Install Extension at the bottom of the window.
3. Select the .rbz file and confirm the prompt asking whether you trust the extension's author.
4. Restart SketchUp. The extension appears under Extensions in the menu bar and in Window > Extension Manager.

Do not unzip the RBZ or copy files into the Plugins folder by hand — install it through the Extension Manager so SketchUp registers it correctly.

1. Open Extensions > Fair Align, or show the Fair Align toolbar. The same nine commands are also on the right-click context menu.
2. Select two or more objects.
3. Click the alignment you want — three axes (red, green, blue) times three modes (Min, Center, Max).
4. Keep clicking objects in the viewport to add them: each one joins the set and re-aligns immediately. Click a picked object again to drop it, hold Shift to extend, click empty space to start over, press Esc to finish.

Add a construction line or construction point to the selection to align to it — the guide defines the target plane and never moves. Select faces and edges to flatten raw geometry onto that plane. Each of the nine axis/mode combinations has its own cursor so you can see which alignment is armed.

1. Open Extensions > Fair Space, or show the Fair Space toolbar. The same commands are also on the right-click context menu.
2. Click the axis you want to distribute along.
3. Click objects in the model in the order you want them chained. The first one is the anchor.
4. Type a spacing and press Enter — the measurement box understands units (300mm, 2', 1 1/2") and arithmetic (=1200/7). Leave it blank to spread the objects evenly between the outermost two.
5. Shift cycles the distance mode (Edges, Centers, Origins). Alt cycles the anchor (Min, Center, Max). Press Esc when done.

The measurement box also reports the spacing you actually got. However many objects you add and however often you change the spacing, a single Undo reverses the whole chain.

The toolbar isn't visible. On Windows, open View > Toolbars and tick Fair Align or Fair Space. On macOS, open View > Tool Palettes and tick the palette there. If the extension is missing from that list entirely, check Window > Extension Manager — it may be installed but disabled. Enable it and restart SketchUp. The same commands are always available from the Extensions menu and the right-click context menu even when the toolbar is hidden.

The licence isn't recognised. Make sure SketchUp is signed in to the Trimble account that owns the licence, then open Window > Extension Manager, expand the extension's row, and press Update License. Restart SketchUp afterwards. If it still fails, email us the account address you purchased with.

The trial has expired. The free trial runs for 30 days from the day you start it. When it ends, buy the perpetual licence from the extension's page in the Extension Warehouse, then use Update License in the Extension Manager as above. Purchases made in the Extension Warehouse are non-refundable per Trimble policy.

Nothing happens when I run a command. Both extensions skip anything hidden, locked, on a hidden tag, or inside a hidden tag folder. Fair Align also needs at least two movable objects, or one movable object plus a guide, or raw geometry on its own.

Alignment goes in an unexpected direction. Both extensions work in the axes of the group or component you are currently inside, not the world axes. Inside a rotated container, red, green and blue are that container's own axes.
